Who We Are
MFRR, the Media Freedom Rapid Response, is a Europe-wide mechanism that monitors press freedom violations and supports journalists under threat. It brings together six press freedom organisations led by ECPMF to track attacks, provide support, and carry out advocacy in EU Member States and candidate countries. In simple terms, MFRR exists to defend independent journalism in Europe.
Partner Organisations
MFRR is implemented by a consortium of press freedom and journalists’ organisations, coordinated by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), together with ARTICLE 19 Europe, the European Federation of Journalists, Free Press Unlimited, the International Press Institute and Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa.
Mission
The mission of the Media Freedom Rapid Response is to protect journalists and uphold independent media by monitoring press freedom violations, providing direct support and advocating for safer and more enabling conditions for journalism across Europe.
